What I wore!

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

I know I don’t talk about my OWN personal style enough in my blog so I thought I might start doing it more!

What you should know about my everyday style:
- I’m obsessed with wearing short dresses over jeans
- I love clunky looking shoes and boots
- I usually have short hair but when it’s longer, I like to dye it fun colors and wear it in little piggy tails
- I wear glasses (no, i can’t help it!;-)
- I LOVE a chance to wear legwarmers and armwarmers for any reason
- I always wear hats with ears (if you couldn’t tell by the hat selection on my website!)
- When I dress up, I try and put bows or flowers in my hair and a hear sticker or rhinestone on my cheek
- When I dress down, I try to make a statement with my jewelry as my focal point

The other day I bought this adorable pink/black plaid tunic dress and black jeans (no, that’s not me in the photo but the product shots from the store;-)

Anyways, I wore it with some shanalogic gear of course and thought I’d share what I think would make the perfect accessories for it!

Because of it’s higher neckline, you’d need to wear a choker and maybe a LOOONG necklace. I wore my handcuff choker (i’ve had it for years!) and the magic mirror necklace together but if I had the black padlock, I totally could have worn that;-)

Also, because of it’s pop of color, I felt that silver on the rest of the accessories was the way to go! Hope you like it:-)

- handcuff choker
- mirror mirror necklace
- camera ring
- wishbone earrings (dainty and simple!)
- armwarmers (i didn’t wear these the other day because it was 80 degrees but I wish I could!)
- double heart bracelet (this baby goes with everything!)

Kissies!

Wedding Pics - 2003

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

Some of my blog peeps asked me to show them some wedding pics and I was taking my sweet time! While I was away on my camping trip, sneaky Mel found some of my wedding photos (well, they are actually right in my facebook profile but I totally forgot they were there! :P ) so I thought that would be a great opportunity to share the fun;-)

I didn’t have a traditional wedding. I had actually planned on having one, but as we got deeper into the planning stages, it just started to feel not quite right for Toby and I. We had been together for over 5 years and wanted to have a really unique memory of the beginning of our marriage.

In the beginning I was pressured by a lot of people who insisted that I’d regret not walking down an aisle or wearing the big fancy dress. People definitely didn’t think the destination wedding was the thing to do but I rarely conformed in other facets of my life though so it seemed like a great idea to do something different from the norm:-)

We got married in the valley of fire 6 years ago in october (it’s weird how I can never seem to remember the exact dates). We chose it mainly because we had a limited budget but it was still unusual (originally we wanted to get married in ireland but alas, no cash monies!) The valley of fire is a desert with bright red rocks and sand in the middle of Nevada. It’s used for the filming of many movies because of how distinct it looks. We didn’t exactly “elope” because my parents totally knew about it:-) It was just us and two of our close friends (you might recognize my bff Troy in the photo)!

We were driven out to the Valley of Fire in the morning because it gets really hot so we had to start early. I’m NOT a morning person so I insisted that we stop so I could get some sort of coffee drink;-)

The desert was amazing and totally awe-inspiring…not to mention that it was completely empty except for us! The reverend dude was waiting for us with a cake and champagne and the ceremony was short and sweet;-)

It was so much fun! Because it was such an inexpensive wedding, we didn’t really take it super seriously and it was EPICWIN when it turned out to be so awesome! My mom always teased me in high school that I’d get married in my combat boots. 10 years later, I actually did!

Back to School - Yay!

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

Whether you’re dreading back to school or super excited to get back in there and hang with your friends, one thing’s for sure…You gotta do it in style!

What’s cooler than showing off a new bag, a super-cute necklace that no one else has, or an adorable teeshirt? When it’s indie too! No mass production here baby. When you shop indie, you stand out for being unique and stylin’,  but you’re also supporting artists - AWESOME RIGHT?! ;-)
