Tell us about yourself as an artist.
Hi! I’m Emily. I’m based in Vancouver, BC in Canada. I’ve been making jewelry for almost 20 years! (O__O!!)

When did you start designing jewelry?
I started in high school as a hobby. I bought some Japanese beading books for a local bookstore, I couldn’t read Japanese at the time but was able to follow the diagrams to make a few pieces.

You work with so many different materials like resin and polymer clay. Do you have a favorite? Which one is the hardest and why?
Currently I like working with resin the most. I mainly use UV resin so I am able to finish pieces in one sitting if I want to. For my clay creations I mostly use air dry clay. If I’m too slow the piece starts to harden and I have to scrap it. Also because of its drying process, it can take days to finish a piece. For certain steps I have to dedicate a fixed amount of time to it, lately I’ve been busier than ever so it’s hard to find time to do my air dry clay pieces as much!

You're basically a resin master, got any tips for people out there who want to try it?
I am definitely not a master! There are so many artists out there who I feel are way more talented. I think you just have to try, and be ok with pieces that don’t turn out the way you expect them to, and then try again! Also, lots of Youtube videos nowadays with tons of great tutorials.

What was the first type of "art" you made?
I took a few art classes when I was young, anything from watercolor painting, pastels, ceramics, etc. But the first items that I made by myself were beaded flowers, grapes and strawberries! In fact, Shana Logic was the first place that sold my creations (And if she still has the pictures in her archive, she may include them here ;)  (editor's note: I doooo!!!)

What's something that most people don't know about you?
I couldn’t speak until I was 3 years old, and one night at dinner I began speaking and talked for two hours straight with perfect pronunciation and grammar. Or that’s how the story goes anyway. There is no audio or video evidence so I can’t say that it actually happened that way.

Anything else you'd like to add?
Thanks for having me Shana! You’re awesome :) (editor's note: awwww!)
